Ermon Boyce Cox
Trooper Ermon Boyce Cox was traveling from a store with his nine- year-old son in his personal automobile when he noticed a suspected intoxicated driver. Trooper followed the suspect into a driveway and the suspect entered his residence. Trooper Cox was backing out of the driveway when the suspect returned with a rifle and shot Trooper Cox through his windshield.
Trooper Cox had served with the Arkansas State Police for only eight months. His nine-year- old son, Benny Cox, went on to become an Arkansas State Trooper, following in his Dad’s footsteps. Sergeant Cox retired in 2015 after a 30-year career with the Arkansas State Police.
